Hi, I am Lisa Garland and I work as Fitness Specialist at adidas in Spartanburg. My passion for health and wellness began at a young age. I was diagnosed with Rheumatic Fever when I was six. At the time, the disease was so rare only six children in the country had the same diagnosis as I. The disease infected all the muscles in my body, including my heart, and left me with a murmur and arthritis. My doctors told me at that age, if I wanted to live to be 40, I would have to be healthy… eat healthy foods and exercise regularly, and particularly running would have to be a major role in my life. I began playing sports at age 7, running at 9, and weight training at 14. My passion to live gave me a passion for fitness. I have worked extensively in the fitness and athletic world. I am an eight time world champion boxer, and I hold a world record as the only female world champion fighter to fight equal ring time as our male constituents. Today, I am the Vice President of the World Boxing Union and have sanctioned championship boxing world wide. I am also a volunteer for USA Boxing, the Olympic Organization for my sport.
