Through my life experiences and my personal journey growing up in an underrepresented community, I can relate to the matters the younger generation and ethnic minorities face in society today. My role as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator at Fulham Football Club has given me the opportunity to share best practices on psychological issues that individuals from underrepresented communities face daily, in addition to how they can look to overcome barriers with positive influence. I believe in diverse leadership and embrace the position that career choices are not determined by the colour of one’s skin, ethnicity, or gender.
I intend to motivate and inspire individuals through my journey and life experiences, but more importantly creating a notion that represents successful change and encourages optimism. Racial representation is hugely important on and off sporting fields, which includes boardrooms and executive roles. My story will provide professional insight into what it is like being a diverse leader in an elite sporting environment as well as highlighting challenges faced by those from underrepresented backgrounds.
