My name is Alvaro Olavarría. I‘m originally from Venezuela, but have lived a good part of my life in the USA, and now based out of Panamá. I have been working in adidas for 9 years already.
The curious thing about my professional background, is that for the last seven years, my experience has been entirely focused on the commercial side of the business, looking at numbers, projections and always thinking about how we can grow the business in a profitable way, and of course keep our consumers happy by guaranteeing the right product offer and availability for them.
Nevertheless, I always had a genuine interest and passion for Sustainability. I often questioned why we did things in a certain way and tried to make a difference where I could. After the pandemic, the opportunity to work directly with Sustainability popped up and it completely change my life and career. Now, I am thrilled to drive topics such as communicating our sustainability efforts to our consumers, changing lives in our communities and of course, a continuous evolution and transformation of our internal culture when it comes to sustainability.
