Whether you are new to running, or have thousands of miles under your feet, it is always good to find new ways to get motivated. Most running apps now have lots of features that can encourage you to lace on your sneaks, even on those early mornings or wet lunch breaks. Here are three easy ways to get in a determined mindset.

1. Set yourself a goal

Nothing keeps the mind focused like having a goal that you are aiming towards. Set a monthly distance goal, a target number of runs per week, or a new average pace. The benefit in doing so is that it will give you a foundation upon which to work off for the future. You hit your target? Give yourself a tougher one for the next period.

If you already have monthly targets, then why not pick one month to try and achieve something really ambitious. Could you run every day for one month? …there’s only one way to find out.

2. Be part of the community

Running feels easier when you do it with other people. Sadly, that is still not something that is allowed in many parts of the world; however, you can still run with other people digitally.

If you have even one competitive bone in your body, then this will start to get you hooked.

3. Join a challenge

Run For The Oceans is the world’s biggest digital running event. Joining the challenge on your adidas Running app you can be safe in the knowledge that others will be pounding the pavement at the same time as you. Every kilometer you bank in the app helps to fund beach cleanups led by the Parley Global Cleanup Network and reduces the plastic pollution threat to marine life. Keep an eye on the challenge leaderboard to see how your km total is measuring up. When you start checking your position every few hours, you know you are doing it right.
