What used to be a niche medium is now part of everyday conversation. From a quick info push to longform storytelling, the podcast sphere has something for everyone with one thing in common: the concept of people passionately talking about topics you care about is contagious.

The show that kicked off the current podcast boom was Serial, a true-crime investigation that averaged more than 1.5 million listeners per episode. And there’s no end in sight to the popular medium with new shows popping up from news outlets, individual contributors, and brands alike. And if those weren’t enough, there are even podcasts about podcasts (case in point).

According to Edison Research, 73 million Americans – or 26% percent of the country’s population – enjoy podcasts monthly. What’s more, super fans average seven different podcasts per week. That’s a whole lot of listening.

The appeal of podcasts is in line with our on-demand mentalities and on-the-go lifestyles. Fit for commuters, frequent travelers, and avid exercises, podcasts can engage you in learning on the go. Below are eight to get you hooked right now.
