It was an exciting week in San Francisco for the adidas Digital Sports BU. Google held its highly visibile annual developer conference featuring new innovations for web, mobile and cloud based technologies. New this year was the announcement of Google Fit, a platform that will enable consumers to integrate and access their fitness data from a range of sensors and tracking apps.
adidas was featured as a Google Fit partner announcing for the first time that our miCoach devices and apps will be opened up so that data can flow into Google Fit. Developers will now have the opportunity to create new experiences using miCoach devices starting with the SPEED_CELL, X_CELL and SMART RUN. These experiences will provide consumers with new ways to reach their sports and fitness goals.
adidas was featured in the Google Fit announcement in the opening keynote. We also had the chance to show our products for the top Google developers. In addition, the new miCoach SMART BALL was used in a Google Glass demo that integrated feedback from the new ball into the Google Glass display.
The digital space is loaded with opportunity for adidas to innovate by combining wearable sensors and wireless technologies that capture and present insights to help consumers achieve their sports and fitness goals. It was indeed a great experience to be there and see all this innovation happening, and I personally cannot wait to see these great initiatives come to life!
